High Powered Rocketry Club (2022-2024)
As part of the High Powered Rocketry Club (HPRC) at WPI, I helped develop a rocket entered in the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC). I was part of the team that designed the payload (pictured below). Our task changes each year, with the 2022 challenge being a simulated “search & rescue” mission.
The mission for 2023 involved telemetric cubes that collected weather data. For next year’s competition, I am working to redesign the payload for a new mission. HPRC allows me to develop many important skills such as: computer-aided design, prototyping, manufacturing, and working in a team environment.
Interactive Qualifying Project (2023)
As part of WPI’s project-based curriculum, I traveled Berlin, Germany in the spring of 2023 to complete my Interactive Qualifying Project. While there, I worked with a sponsor on a project to help streamline the process for asylum-seekers and refugees coming to Germany. We developed a website, called Immigration4Iran, with resources for those coming into the country. As part of IQP, we made presentations to our sponsor and advisors, completed social science research, and developed a booklet which is published here. |

OTIS Elevator Mechanical Design (2022)
I worked with OTIS elevators for one term to design a mechanical system and testing rig using SolidWorks. As part of the design process, our team created decision matrices and performed a failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA). We manufactured the testing rig and mechanism, and performed a series of tests to prove the viability of our design. This project also included weekly updates with sponsors and a final technical report.
Wind Turbine Static Analysis (2021)
Worked in a team of 5 to develop and write a hypothetical proposal for a sustainable energy source in a Sub-Saharan African community. We looked at installing a wind turbine to provide power to the small village. I used Mathcad to complete a static analysis of the turbine, determining where to build the bases of the structure. We also submitted a technical report that explained the results of our analysis and the effect the turbine would have on the community. Below are example calculations used in the final report:
VisitAbility Contest (2019)
I was the winner of the 2019 VisitAbility Contest hosted by Independence Unlimited. For this contest, I used Chief Architect to design a single family house with a focus on accessibility. I produced drawings and a scale model to present:
Major Qualifying Project (2024)
For my Major Qualifying Project at WPI (similar to a senior capstone project at other schools), I will be entering NASA’s 2024 Lunabotics competition. The goal of this contest is to design a robot that must complete a mining mission, with accompanying engineering reports. I will be working with other students of various majors to design, program, and manufacture a robot that will represent our school in this competition.
